Thai Massage Duluth, MN | Deep Stretching and Dynamic Therapy

Supportive and dynamic fully clothed massage therapy

How it works:

Thai massage combines acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. Done on a padded mat on the floor or a low massage table without oils, the client stays fully clothed while the practitioner uses hands, feet, and elbows to stretch and compress the body.

How it works:

These assisted, passive, yoga stretches move your joints through a greater range of motion than every-day movement. This can reduce symptoms such as back pain, joint stiffness, and headaches. The increased movement has the potential to be an energy boost as the movement moves fluid through tissues. The assisted stretching can help calm the nervous system.

The Physical Benefits of Thai Massage:

  • Increased flexibility – During a Thai massage session, your therapist moves your body into yoga-like stretches to widen joint mobility and range of motion. Don’t worry, no prior yoga experience is necessary! The goal is to find your comfort level in a supported manner.
  • Pain relief – As your body is moved through the range of motion in various joints, Thai massage can help ease chronic lower back stiffness, sore shoulders, and muscle tension.
  • Headache reduction – Gentle compression and stretching can decrease the intensity of tension headaches and migraines. Make sure to discuss with your therapist if your headache is regularly occurring.
  • Better circulation – Rhythmic pressure stimulates blood flow, delivering more oxygen to your tissues. If fluid has been stagnant, the dynamic movements can act like a pump to gently encourage the exchange of fluid throughout your body.

The Mental and Emotional Benefits of Thai Massage:

  • Lowered stress – The deliberate, steady pace activates your nervous system’s rest response to calm anxiety. The feeling of safety is an important component of these assisted stretches. Your therapist will check in often to get a sense of your comfort level.
  • Improved sleep – Relaxed muscles and a quieted mind help many people sleep deeper the same night. Your therapist may have recommendations for you to get the most benefits out of your Thai massage session.
  • Higher energy: Working along the body’s energy pathways (Sen lines) aims to restore balance and fight fatigue. Your therapist my have recommendations for hydrating afterwards.

Thai massage uses a futon on the floor and is fully clothed. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended!
