Why Halcyon House?
We understand that joining a new business is a big decision. Sometimes it can mean packing up and moving somewhere new. Duluth seems to attract those with a sense of adventure!
And joining a worker owned cooperative can add to the unknowns – like
- ‘What is the difference between just being an employee?’ or
- ‘Why would I work in a cooperative as opposed to just starting my own practice?’
There could be a variety of answers to either of these, however briefly: decisions are decided upon by the members of the cooperative as opposed to being handed down by a hierarchy.
It is also possible to earn patronage dividends on Halcyon House profits.
From a practitioner perspective
A solo practice can be a little lonely. Having a variety of experienced co-workers from different backgrounds and practicing different modalities allows us to offer what is best for our clients and expand our knowledge continually. This collaboration is exciting and the results with our clients are very real. Additionally, having other members helping with client communication, front desk, marketing, and handling taxes takes some of the weight off your shoulders that solo practitioners have to handle on their own.
