Happy 2nd Birthday to Wylie: Finding Wellness on Duluth Hiking Trails

Happy Birthday to Wylie, who officially turns two years old this week! Wylie is an incredibly energetic dog. Every single day, he brings immense joy, motion, and laughter into my life. He keeps me moving, smiling, and appreciating the little things.

Wylie also acts as my personal health coach. He constantly makes sure that outdoor adventures are a regular part of my routine. Thanks to his high energy, hikes and time in nature are core pillars of my overall well-being. Dogs have a beautiful way of grounding us in the present moment.

Living in Duluth, Minnesota, gives us the perfect backdrop for our adventures. We are incredibly lucky to have access to world-class trails right in our backyard. From the scenic overlooks of the Superior Hiking Trail to quiet wooded paths, Duluth offers endless opportunities to explore. Wylie loves exploring the local terrain just as much as I do. The fresh air, lake breezes, and changing seasons keep us both vibrant and healthy.

Spending time outdoors with a pet is proven to lower stress. It boosts cardiovascular health and clears the mind. For me, walking along the rocky shores of Lake Superior or navigating forest pathways is a form of daily meditation. Wylie’s excitement for the trail is completely contagious.

As we celebrate his second birthday, I am deeply grateful for his companionship. He reminds me to slow down, breathe deeply, and prioritize self-care. Here is to many more miles of muddy paws, wagging tails, and beautiful Duluth views. Happy birthday, Wylie!

Cozy Community Connections: Reflections From Our Fall Open House

Our open house was so much fun. It was great to meet new folks and catch up with familiar faces.

Of course, our pup Sunny had other plans. She decided to help herself to some chocolate cookies the night before! I went straight from emergency vet care to the open house with zero sleep. Thankfully, she is safe, healthy, and hopefully learned her lesson about midnight snacks.

    Embracing the Indoor Season

I always feel a rush of excitement when the weather shifts and social gatherings move indoors. This time of year invites a slower pace and a renewed focus on inner growth.

What does that look like for you?

    • Diving into a great book on a rainy afternoon.
    • Having long, deep conversations with good friends over warm tea.
    • Spending quiet hours on a favorite hobby or craft.
    • Baking homemade treats or crafting thoughtful gifts for neighbors.

    Building Stronger Local Ties

Self-care matters. Take time to look after your own energy as the season changes.

At the same time, check in on your friends and neighbors. Small gestures build strong community connections. Whether you host a casual gathering or simply share a kind word, these moments ground us.
